Manorbier Castle will be the magnificent setting for a very special medieval banquet on May 5 to celebrate the Wales Year of Legends.

Famous as being the birthplace of Gerald of Wales, the son of Princess Nest, Gerald was a medieval clergyman and chronicler and in more modern times the castle has also been used as a location for TV programmes and films; the most memorable being the BBC’s adaptation of The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe.

Pembrokeshire Tourism are hosting the banquet in the crypt which will provide an atmospheric backdrop for the event and with authentic music provided by a local group, diners can look forward to a feast of food and merriment.

Speaking about the event, tourism liaison manager, Dennis O’Connor, said: “The Year of Legends gives the tourism and hospitality sector a wonderful opportunity to promote the legends of Pembrokeshire. The county is steeped in history and we are delighted to host this special event at such a splendid location.”

The Year of Legends is celebrating Wales’ past, present and future. Evoking the storytelling of the past interwoven with the imagination and future vision and legends are being brought to life. Guests attending the evening are encouraged to wear a medieval costume of their own choice to enhance the atmosphere of the evening.

Tickets for the legends banquet are £35 per person and may be purchased by contacting Pembrokeshire Tourism on 01646 622228.
