“Nothing much getting over Carew bridge today,” said Paul Macken, of Pembroke Dock, who has taken these photos at Carew in Pembrokeshire this morning.

A high tide and overnight rain made the road through the village, which connects Pembroke and Tenby with Narberth and Haverfordwest, impassible.

The bridge resembled a ford, with only larger vehicles (and drivers prepared to take a risk) making their way through the floods.

Situated at one end of the Castle Millpond, Carew Bridge is significant as it provides road users with one of only two ways to cross the many arms of the tidal Cleddau river and estuary; the other being the Cleddau Bridge at Pembroke Dock.
