POLICE have installed warning signs at two Pembroke Dock car parks in response to growing concerns relating to anti-social driving.

The new signs at Fort Road car park and Llanreath car park warn motorists that police are monitoring the areas.

“Did you know that police can seize and remove vehicles involved in ASB and if you drive outside of your policy terms, your insurance may be cancelled or your premiums increased?” local police warn.

“Police are operating a zero tolerance policy for any anti-social driving, this can also lead to fines and penalty points.

“Please drive carefully and with consideration for others.”

It follows a resident’s revelation to the town council meeting last June that anti-social drivers had been treating Fort Road as a race track, blasting horns late at night, despite its proximity to a hospital and residential care facilities.

Although one local resident mentioned that they have not encountered any anti-social driving in the area, the move has been welcomed by many as a “step in the right direction.”

Officers will need to back their warnings with action though, as members of the public made clear via social media their scepticism about the efficacy of unlit signs unless there is also visible police monitoring at night as well as in the day.

Claire Francis-Boswell, Pembroke Dock town councillor, said:

“Hoping this will make the ASB ‘visitors’ be aware things are being watched. Year after year the residents at these beautiful places are being plagued by ever increasing worrying behaviour.”

Claire promised she, alongside the police and County Councillor Jamie Street, will continue to keep a sharp focus on these areas and the local roads, aiming to keep them clean and safe for everyone.

The councillor added that she is happy to chat to anyone who has been affected.
