BY popular demand, the National Trust at Colby Woodland Gardens, Amroth, will be holding a Celtic Music Evening in the meadow at Colby this Friday, July 19.

Bysedd Main, the well-known and internationally renowned group of players, will be entertaining from 8 pm until about 11.30 pm.

Steeped in Welsh tradition, they are now forging a new musical vocabulary to take the Welsh Tradition Music into the 21st century. The group create a dynamic balance of strings, wind and percussion to interpret old tunes and to voice original and contemporary sounds.

Caller Hugh Davies has danced the Welsh tradition all his life. As a member of the famous Talog dancers, he has danced in all the major Eisteddfod and Festivals of Wales. His knowledge of the steps is legendary.

"Last year we had such a perfect evening, there were dancers who didn't want to stop and others picnicking and enjoying the music on a wonderful balmy summer's night," said Gill Farrow, manager at Colby. "The valley offers such an excellent venue for this or any musical event, so gather up some friends, your own seating, a sweater for later, a picnic supper and maybe a bottle of wine, for an evening to remember."

The gardens will be open from 6.30 pm and tickets are available from the Tudor Merchant's House, Quay Hill, Tenby, or telephone Colby Gift Shop on (01834) 811885. Adults £6, children £4.
