A ‘Big Spring Beach Clean’ combined with a fun Easter Egg Hunt will take place in Amroth this Sunday.

The event, organised by local environmental campaigner Anna Strzelecki in conjunction with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), will run from 11 am to 3 pm, with participants asked to meet opposite the sea front’s Pirate Cafe, where Anna’s yellow van will be used as a registration point.

A similar event held last year at the seaside village saw over 100 volunteers take part in the beach clean, with many more expected to join in this year.

Anna and her 12-year-old daughter Jaz have painted 50 pebbles which will be hidden on the beach, with anyone taking part in the clean-up asked to keep an eye out for the stones, which can be exchanged for prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

More challenges when collecting the rubbish include - finding the most unusual item, and most useful item, while some of the plastic debris collected from the beach will be used for a project led by Amroth Community Council to fill a community art installation of a giant steel sea bass which will create a focal point for the Clean Seas campaign.
