As the result of a successful charity event at the New Inn, Amroth, a donation of over £1,000 was recently presented to the local RNLI branch.

Licensees, couple Paul Luger and Leanne Davies, staged 'Paul's 30th Birthday Charity Event' over the weekend of May 29, which in the process raised the excellent sum of £1,041 for the RNLI.

The Luger family owe a lot to local RNLI crew members, as back almost 50 years ago, they helped pluck Paul senior from a drifting waterlogged dinghy two miles off Amroth beach when he was just six-years-old.

The fund-raising event was attended by a host of customers, friends and family, who were all lucky to enjoy the good weather over that weekend.

With a large marquee on the front lawn, entertainment was provided by James Williams, a former X-Factor contestant, whilst everyone enjoyed the pig-roast and BBQ that was served until gone 11 pm.

During the evening, a raffle and auction were staged, with a good number of prizes being kindly donated by both individuals and suppliers, while a further £180 was raised by the Saundersfoot RNLI stall on the lawn.

"This event was only made possible by the generosity of our customers, local suppliers and not forgetting family and friends, to whom we are indebted," said licensee Paul.

To make extra use of the marquee, on Saturday evening entertainment was provided by 'Gary-Gary' from Tenby, who enchanted customers with a wide range of music to cater for all age groups, together with personal requests.
