Both Tenby RNLI lifeboats were requested to launch just before 6.30am on Tuesday, September22 after a request from the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust for assistance with the medevac of a casualty that had taken ill on Caldey Island.

With the all-weather lifeboat waiting for Paramedics, the inshore lifeboat was on the water first and made its way the short distance over to the island.

Once alongside at Caldey, two crew members were taken up to the village to assess the casualty, before bringing him back down to the jetty, where the lifeboat was waiting with the ambulance crew ready to take over care.

Also aboard were members of Tenby Fire and Rescue and Tenby Coastguard Rescue team in case assistance was required getting the casualty to the boat.

Arriving back in Tenby a short while later, the casualty was taken to hospital for further treatment and the lifeboat was rehoused and made ready for the next service.
