There were two simultaneous shouts for Angle RNLI on Tuesday (September 22) including assisting in rescuing eight cows that fell from cliffs!

At 11.30am the lifeboat crew were tasked alongside Milford Haven Harbour Patrol to provide safety cover to local farmers and a local fishing vessel attempting to recover 8 cows that had fallen from cliffs at Ellen’s Well, Angle.

The lifeboat was soon on scene and assisted in deploying the lifeboats inflatable Y boat while local farmers and equipment were transferred to the cove in which the cows were now stranded.

As the tide continued to flood, the cows were coaxed towards the waters edge and secured with lines. One at a time, the cows were then enticed into the water and taken around to Angle Point to be landed on the beach.

During the recovery operation the crew were diverted to investigate reports of a person cut off by the tide below the Impala Terminal at Gelliswick. Both the lifeboat and Y boat crew proceeded to Gelliswick and soon located the person ashore in a bay to the west of the terminal.

The Y boat crew spoke to the person who confirmed that they were a photographer, were aware of their surroundings and were happy to remain in situ. With this, the crew returned to the original tasking.

By 2.45pm all of the cows were now recovered safe and well to the beach.

With no further assistance required the crew were stood down and the lifeboat was back alongside her berth and ready for further service by 3pm.
