A Pembroke man with a history of offending has been handed a jail term for stealing meat from a shop.

Thirty-seven-year-old Karl Richard Bacon, of the Riverside Hostel, Woodbine Terrace, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Thursday, to plead guilty to a charge of stealing meat to the value of £109.09 from the Co-op store in Pembroke, the previous day.

Due to the defendant’s record of previous offending, magistrates committed him to prison for 28 days, and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £120.

Mr. Bacon was also ordered to pay £109.09 to the Co-op store in compensation.
