A HAVERFORDWEST man has been sentenced in court for breaching a restraining order as well as using an e-scooter on the road while disqualified from driving.

On May 11 at Trafalgar Road, James Wilkinson, of 203 North Court had driven the e-scooter while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence. Driving whilst disqualified is contrary to section 103(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

He was also charged with driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road without due care and attention and using a motor vehicle in a public place when there was no valid insurance policy in force.

On July 21, he had attended a Pembroke address which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order under section 360 of the Sentencing Act 2020 imposed by Swansea Crown Court on September 9, 2025 following a conviction for harassment.

Wilkinson, appearing before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on September 29, 2026 pleaded guilty to all charges.

Taking into account the guilty pleas, the 24-year-old was banned from driving for a further six months, in addition to the 45 months of unserved disqualification. He was fined £120 and his driving record was endorsed (no points).

For breaching the restraining order, Wilkinson was given a community order until March 2028, with a 12-month curfew and 18 months of electronic tagging. The order prohibits him from entering specified areas of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock.

The community order also requires the offender to comply with any instructions of the responsible officer to attend appointments (with the responsible officer or someone else nominated by them), or to participate in any activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 15 days.
