A man caught in Milford Haven in possession of cannabis has been fined in court.

Thirty-four-year-old Dean Evans pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 0.27 grammes of cannabis when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers spoke to the defendant, on July 26, on unrelated matters.

“Unfortunately, officers could smell cannabis at Mr. Evans’s house and he produced it for them. He has a long list of offending, but only one drugs matter on record from 2004,” he explained.

Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that his client had the cannabis for his own personal use and he co-operated fully with police.

Magistrates fined Mr. Evans £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
