The Quins Under 11s took on Fishguard U11s at Bierspool, on a wet and windy Sunday morning.

The heavens opened just before kick-off to add to the tricky playing conditions.

The first five minutes saw some good defending from both teams, before Fishguard used the width well to score in the corner.

The young Quins side responded well with some good runs forward, and the pack of Rhys Spencer, Alex Boswell, Eljay Taylor, Jayden Webber and Ethan Kettle recycling well at the breakdown.

Luis Heathfield made a good break forward from open play, with scrum-half Kieran Smith timing a good pass to fly-half Euan McDonald, who evaded the Fishguard defence to score the Quins' first try, which he also converted.

This sparked the Quins into action, with Rhys, Alex and Eljay working hard at the breakdown to secure possession. Another strong run from Luis Heathfield deservedly gave the Quins their second try, which Euan converted into a strong headwind.

The Quins had the bit between their teeth and were driving forward with some good team play. Scrum-half Kieran was continually putting Fishguard under pressure, with backs Euan, Morgan Owens, David Roberts, Kobey Thomas and Dylan Jones linking well and making good ground. This resulted in quick ball for Kobey, who with a strong run scored the Quins' third try, to make the half-time score 21-7.

The Quins started the second half as they finished the first. Good ball from the pack released Lewis Hunter ,who made a strong run forward, drawing the defence and making space for Morgan to score the fourth try.

Players coming on included Daniel Evans, Hannah Polkinghorn, Kyle Jennings, Cameron Davies, Dannie Wilks, Sam Montague and Evan Richards who joined in and battled well.

Kieran, Morgan and David tackled well in the closing stages, with the ball being passed to Morgan, who used his evasive running skills to turn the defence inside out, before scoring another good try.

Fishguard rallied and scored two late tries, leaving a final score of Quins U11s 33 Fishguard U11s 21.

All players from both teams must be congratulated on a hard fought match in difficult conditions, and the referee who tried to let the game flow as much as he could.

Well done the Quins U11s..
