Crymych 15 pts

Tenby United 16

Impressive Tenby United progressed through to the semi-finals of the Pembrokeshire Knockout Cup, with a narrow victory away to Crymych on Saturday.

Having defeated Whitland in a previous round, it was the Seasiders' second victory over division one west team in the cup competition.

The United, who play their rugby two sections lower in division three west, will now be eyeing up a third successive final in the competition, as they next face Milford Haven at home in a tie to be played on March 8.

Tenby took an early lead when hooker Gareth Jones crossed over for a try, which scrum-half Jonathan Rogers converted.

But the hosts struck back with two tries before the break, from number eight Gareth Williams and winger Gavin Thomas, with Adam Phillips coverting one and also adding a penalty, to give the Preseli men a 15-7 lead.

Rogers struck three penalities after the interval to give the Seasiders a one-point lead, and despite Crymych having the chance to snatch victory with a late penalty, Phillips was off target from the 22-metre line and Tenby hung on for the win.
