DUNVANT 30 pts.

TENBY UNITED 27

Tenby outscored their opponents by four tries to three, in their last league fixture of the season, but it wasn't enough to dent Dunvant's unbeaten home record, as the Seasisders went down 30-27.

The hosts went into this game looking for maximum points in the faint hope that if Haverfordwest slipped up in their last two games, they might snatch the title from them.

The home side went into an early lead with two well-struck penalties from winger Adam Williams, but Tenby hit back when centre Toby Smith crossed for a try.

Williams put Dunvant further ahead with another penalty kick, but the Seasiders narrowed the score again when outside-half Tom Lewis was successful with a long range drop goal.

Dunvant started well in the second half and were rewarded with their first try of the match when outside centre Mitchell Ford made a break which enabled replacement hooker Carwyn Williams to score a try.

Williams converted to make it 16-8, and shortly after the home side mounted another attack, when a Tenby clearance kick on the 22 was charged down by Danny Davies, who was able to pick up the ball and make a clear run in under the posts.

Williams again converted for a healthy 23-8 lead, but Tenby fought back staging a series of attacks, one of which was successful when Smith scored his sceond try in the left-hand corner.

Lewis missed the conversion, but on the restart the Seasiders intercepted a Dunvant pass and replacement winger Chris Heesom ran 50 metres to score under the posts. Lewis converted to cut Dunvant's lead to just three points.

With 10 minutes of normal time remaining, Dunvant winger Williams made another break, enabling centre Mitchell Ford to run in for a third try, and with Williams converting, the hosts looked to have sealed it at 30-20.

There was time for one last effort from Tenby though in stoppage time, when Heesom grabbed his second try of the match for a bonus point and with Lewis adding a successful conversion, a losing bonus point as well.

With the news that Haverfordwest scored a try bonus point in defeating Tumble 27-17, Dunvant had to settle for runners-up spot.
