On Thursday, June 13, Trefloyne Seniors welcomed a 12-man team from St. David's Golf Club (writes J.J.).

Early morning weather conditions were not conducive to venture onto a golf course, but everyone turned up, complete with waterproofs; wind conditions were not good for umbrellas either.

By tee-off time, the clouds had evaporated and the sun shone on the righteous!

The wind did cause a problem for some, with drives finding adjacent fairways.

Darrell Jones and Colin Jenkins began the match, taking on Luke Lewis and Peter Bellam.

Three up at the 16th, the home pair hoped to end it there. However, Luke sank a long putt to win the hole to continue the game.

It went to dormie one after Peter won the 17th, but Darrell and Colin kept cool and took the final hole for a 2 up win.

In the last game, Pat Casement and Trevor Lewis were against Steve Jarvis and Ian Grecson.

Despite playing well, the visitors found themselves six down. Steve said to Pat - "I can't understand why we are six down when you have only had five pars and two birdies" - Pat fell about laughing!

Full results: Darrell Jones and Colin Jenkins beat Luke Lewis and Peter Brenam 2 up; Derek Jones and Glyn Latcham beat Ron Evans and Tony Harpeo 5 and 4; Dennis Hollaway and Stuart Mills beat Ken Davies and John Griffiths 4 and 3; Barry Wood and Roger Woodward beat Dereck Gerlaur and Joe Garner 6 and 4; Jack Zeraschi and Dave Crowley beat Ian Watson and Dave Heighway 4 and 3; Pat Casement and Trevor Lewis beat Steve Jarvis and Ian Grecson 5 and 4.

An excellent meal was enjoyed by all and the teams look forward to the return match at St. David's on July 11.
