Junior first Team Shine In Tenby Sun
Trefloyne Juniors (pictured above) played their first ever matchplay event over Easter weekend against local club Tenby. A total of five singles matches counted to the overall result, with four extra Trefloyne players playing against each other to gain valuable experience on the old links.
Captain George Taylor and head professional Oliver Duckett selected a strong team, with vice-captain Billy Truman leading the boys out in the first match. Ellis Morgan was second off, with George Taylor third, followed by Fraser Finlay and finally Jake Morgan.
Harrison Duckett played Ben Palin, with Morgan Duckett and Lewis Ensor also fighting it out in the matchplay format.
The players were set off by Tenby club captain, Chris Beecher, in front of an eager crowd, who applauded every player and shot from the first tee. The match was played in great spirits, with the boys looking extremely smart in their new team shirts sponsored by Neil Finlay Cars, of Broadmoor.
Against a strong Tenby team, the boys did the club proud, eventually winning the fixture 4.5 points to 0.5 points.
Following play, the boys changed into their shirts and ties and looked very professional when eating their team meal, which both sides enjoyed together.
Trefloyne Juniors would like to thank Tenby for their warm hospitality, the caterers for the post-match meal, Ben Palin for organising the match with Sue Ensor and finally Chris Beecher for starting and his encouragement throughout the day. We look forward to welcoming you to Trefloyne for the return leg very soon!

JOP CUP
Easter weekend saw the annual JOP Cup take place. Sponsored by Colin and Julie Jenkins, the event takes place over four days, with two stableford rounds combining to find the winner.
A strong field took to the course in blustery but dry conditions, with some fantastic scores being posted.
The event is open to both ladies and gents and this year was won by Nicky Garrod (gents) and Rosie Moore (ladies).
Congratulations to Nicky and Rosie on winning their first silverware events.
Monthly Medal
The April Medal was again very well supported on a beautiful day at the Manor.
Winner of the gents division one was Simon Sweet (nett 73), with Alan Griffiths taking division two with a sublime 65 and a large handicap cut to go with it.
Another fantasic score by Liz Crockford of nett 67 took the ladies Challenge Bowls Qualifying Medal, with Liz now going on to represent the club in the Area Finals at Pontardawe.
SENIORS v Haverfordwest
Having missed the opening game of this season due to the inclement weather, the team were keen to go into action. Conditions were very good, even though the temperature was somewhat lower than expected for the time of year.
Our captain this season, Darrell Jones, began the match partnered by vice-captain Derek Jones, taking on Rod England and Martin Charles. A very close game, with neither pair gaining a decisive advantage until late on when the home pair went two up with only three holes to play. However, the visitors fought back to share the result.
Next away were Keith Hubbard and Trevor Lewis against Clive Franton and Roy Taylor. This was another contest that could have gone either way, but Keith and Trevor kept their cool and ended two up with one to play.
Third pair to the tee was Pat Casement and Wyn Hopkins playing Tony Tuckwell and Mick Robinson. Advantage soon went to the home pair and they maintained superiority throughout, winning by a 5 and 4 margin.
They were followed by Barry Wood and Roger Woodward against Roger Jones and Phil Woolcock. The visitors found themselves struggling to stave off an early shower, but to no avail, as Barry and Roger gelled very well and romped to a 7 and 5 win.
Fifth away were Roger Cryer and Denis Hollaway taking on Dick Cross and Jeff Flood. At last more competition from the visitors. Taking an early lead they had high hopes of a win, but Roger and Denis fought back to end up all-square - well done.
The pairing of John James and Graham Longster was next away, vying with John James (no relation!) and David Phillips. Graham and John were gobsmacked when David, a 22-handicapper, birdied the difficult second hole! He continued playing very well, but fortunately, Graham, giving eight shots to David, also showed fine form and the game ended 2 and 1 for the home pair.
Next out were Malcolm Ruff and Bob Burks against Martin Halsworth and James Griffiths. Again the game was nip and tuck, going all the way for a shared result.
Eighth away were Jack Zeraschi and John Perrott taking on Vernon Harris and Arthur Williams. Jack and John put up a valiant fight, but were finally defeated at the 16th.
Lastly, Glyn Latcham and Stuart Mills took on Keith Tuson and Barry Smith. Glyn and Stuart went off like demons; the visitors had no answer to the accuracy of their opponents and conceded defeat at the 11th.
An overall win for Trefloyne by six-and-a-half to two-and-a-half, a fine start to the season.
