The RYA ThunderCat National Championship was competed for last weekend at Coppet Hall beach, Saundersfoot, in glorious sun shine and on oily flat seas. The event attracted many local spectators who watched from the beaches and other vantage points by the course. Local man Simon Harding, 38, from Neyland, who has been competing in the ThunderCat Racing series for nearly five years suffered mixed fortunes during the weekend. A broken throttle cable put pay to his challenge on Saturday, but once repaired for the Sunday racing, Harding managed an impressive overall fifth place. Neil Kedwood and Zoe Agar, the owners of the recently opened Coast, Saundersfoot restaurant, were treated to a ride in the Team 33 ThunderCat, the winner of Saturday's racing on Sunday afternoon. Their reaction? "Wow! We must buy one!" The ThunderCat organiser, Fiona Pascoe, is already in negotiations to return to the venue next year.
