On Wednesday, July 30, 44 competitors enjoyed a 5 pm shotgun start at the Burrows links course which saw them test their partners friendship to the limit. The RA Cup is one of the oldest cups in the cabinet having been presented to the Tenby Golf Club in 1952 by the Royal School of Artillery and played for by using the foursome formula which requires a team of two to play alternate shots until the hole is complete. The score is by means of the stableford points system with the best team score taking the prize. On this occasion, the winners were Steve Williams and Vernon Laurence who carded a score of 35 points beating their rivals, Andrew Cope and Austin Davies, on the last nine hole count back. Third place with 33 points went to Craig Thomas and Daniel Cope. Only one pair recorded a two and they were David and Michael Schooling who received £22 each. The bag draw went to John Gilman, David Schooling, Craig Thomas and Tony Key, the club captain, all receiving £11 each. Martin Durham and Gerry Whitehouse received £22 each as the result of being successful in the Pro Shop draw.
