WITH the season drawing to a close at Tenby Sailing Club, the final few races were held last week.

The dinghy racing results on Wednesday, 23 September were as follows: 1, Europe 444, Robin Wood; 2, R228, Bill and Nan Dowell; 3, R252, Julian Cumpsty and Michelle James. PRO - Peter Randles. Everyone sailing had a thoroughly enjoyable race.

The final race of the season for the Redwing fleet was held on Thursday and saw five enthusiastic crews taking advantage of a light SW breeze around a port triangle, marshalled expertly once again by Peter Randles.

After a good start, despite the strong tide, the fleet split left and right and at the windward mark R190 led from the right. R249 soon passed on the reach chased by R225.

Racing was calm and competitive for the two laps. R228 worked through the fleet to draw level with R225 and R252 flew goosewinged on the downwind leg to make a photo finish with R190.

Saturday, 26 September: Three Tenby boats sailed two races and were joined by a Saundersfoot boat for race 2.

Clubhouse: Terry’s quiz attracted four teams and was won by team ‘Terry’s Failures’. The next quiz will be on Saturday, 24 October.

Other dates for the diary are: 31 October, Halloween party; Friday, 27 November, annual dinner, and Saturday, 28 November, annual general meeting.
