Cruiser Racing - Vice Commodore Blake Shaw was Race Officer for a 10 am start on May 11, and two yachts had a very pleasant outing in a light NW breeze which took them on a Starboard reach to Giltar, a Port reach to North Highcliff, and a close fetch back to the North Bay with a short hitch at the end.
Seren, sailed by Phil Rees and Chris Hill was first to cross the line, but Slipstream, sailed by Blake, Martin Andrews, and Julian Cumpsty, won on handicap by 24 seconds.
Sunday’s race - A light WSW wind and overcast sky gave four yachts a gentle sail around the south bay, with Seren taking line honours ahead of Aries and Slipstream.
Results: 1st, Seren, Phil Rees and Chris Hill; 2nd, Slipstream, Blake Shaw, John McKellar and Julian Cumpsty; 3rd, Aries, Sago Lewis, Phil Cox and Carolinda Phillips; 4th, Heather, Denny Young.
