Tenby Sailing Club’s commodore’s farewell gift will be a new defibrillator to be housed at Tenby harbour purchased from money raised by quiz nights hosted by Nathan Spiller at the club.
“Well it’s been two years since I was elected into the position of Commodore and took the helm of Tenby Sailing Club...but as Frank Sinatra once said, now the end is near...well tomorrow (Saturday) in fact,” said departing commodore Nathan.
“There have been many ups and downs, but luckily for me there have been more ups than downs... just!
“Apart from doing the normal Commodore’s organising and chairing of meetings, oh and being the face of the club, I have been holding a Commodore’s Quiz on the last Saturday of the month.
“Last year, the quizzers of Tenby Sailing Club raised just over £870 for the RNLI and this year they have raised over £1,300. This will be used to purchase a defibrillator that will be housed in a heated cabinet. It will be sited at the bottom of the stone steps near the big grey double doors on the harbour car park. This will not only benefit the members, but the harbour users and the wider community alike.
“The club over the last two years has had a lot of improvements and that in turn has started to attract more people into the club. I do hope that this trend continues and the club goes from strength to strength.
“Thank you to all who have supported me over the last two years and see you around sometime. Now all that remains is for me to say - farewell and fair winds,” he added.
