DINGHY races were held at Tenby Sailing Club on Tuesday, April 28th, enjoyed by four crews in a force 4 NE wind and a choppy sea.

Race Officers Steve and Jaz Stubbs aided by Lewis Reeves set a triangular course in the testing conditions with the following results: 1, Contender 646 Steve Leach; 2, Europe 444 Robin Wood; 3, ILCA 6 Julian Cumpsty; 3, ILCA6 Ben Roberts.

The Race Officers claimed two equal third places. All those involved in the challenging conditions were thanked by commodore Marc Shepherd, with congratulations to Steve Leach.

Saturday’s races were cancelled again due to lack of wind. Useful training was substituted. Ben and John practised mark laying and start procedures in a strong tidal flow, after which Dan demonstrated RHIB retrieval using a long line to keep the tractor well away from the water.

The first Class redwings race was scheduled for Thursday, May 7th, but with preparations incomplete, it will be postponed until May 14th.

Race 2 of the cruiser racing series on Friday, May 1st was cancelled as holidays and technical hitches reduced participants numbers. Race 3 is on Saturday, May 16th.

A third junior training evening in a row was faced with unfavourable easterly conditions for sail training. Instead the Tenby junior sailors took to team challenges on the beach, followed by paddle races off the beach. Their competitive instincts came to the fore and all had a good time
