Tenby U13s 5 Fishguard U13s 2

Tenby U13s managed to get a game under their belt last Saturday after many frustrating weeks without a match due to weather.

The boys were a little rusty to start, however, soon got in to the game. Fishguard have improved greatly over the last few seasons and Tenby knew this was going to be a tough test.

Max James, in goal for the first half, commanded his area well and kept a clean sheet up to half-time. With the ever-strong defence led by Dom Booth, who won every challenge, header and nearly scored, the Fishguard attack were running out of ideas fast.

Tom Harding Jones showed his pace down the wing whipping a cross in to the danger area for Harrison Duckett to place in the corner. The nerves were starting to settle being 1-0 up.

Just before half-time, Harrison Duckett picked the ball up on the half-way line and raced toward the goal smashing the ball in to the roof of the net from at least 25 yards out - a contender for goal of the season. Tenby got to half time 2 - 0.

Fishguard started to fight back in the second half and it took a great screaming header powered past the 'keeper from Max Brindley to make it 3-0.

Tenby continued to attack through the pace and strength of Ethan Price so much that Fishguard simply could not cope with. Billy Lawrence followed up from a strong Tenby shot to blast home making it a comfortable 4-0.

However, Fishguard showed great sportsmanship and still continued to fight for the ball.

Ben Rossiter had to show his great pace on many occasions to chase back and put a stop to some threatening attacks. On one occasion, Ben ran 50 yards to make a challenge, but unfortunately a clash of legs resulted in a Fishguard penalty.

Jack Mills, in goal for the second half, did well to get his hands to the spot kick, but it was too strong - 4-1.

Fishguard got their tails up and a well-worked breakaway goal made it 4-2. Tenby now needed to show some character.

Dylan Scotcher tackled like a demon once again and Billy Lawrence broke free to get his second goal to make it 5-2.

Well done boys a gutsy performance putting you back to second place in the league. Keep getting the W's!
