A successful Girls’ Health and Wellbeing Day was recently held for Year 8 students from Milford Secondary School, bringing together 35 enthusiastic participants for a day dedicated to promoting physical activity, health, and lifelong wellbeing.
Local community organisations played a vital role in delivering a range of activities, including golf sessions with Milford Haven Golf Club, fitness and leisure activities from Pembrokeshire Leisure, and sports opportunities led by Pembrokeshire Youth Team, Girls in Football, Tritons Basketball, hockey run by Fishguard and Goodwick Hockey Club and Haverfordwest Tennis Club, which introduced pickleball to the mix.
The aim of the day was to encourage girls to be active, foster lifelong participation in sport, and highlight the importance of health and wellbeing through physical activity.
The event also focused on creating strong links between schools and local sports clubs.
Supporting the smooth delivery of the event were Young Sports Ambassadors, who assisted with co-ordination and encouraged participants throughout the day.
Feedback from the sessions was overwhelmingly positive, with many girls expressing excitement about continuing their involvement in sports and wellbeing activities.
The event was proudly sponsored by Valero and there were generous donations from Hair Syrup, Princes Gate Water, and Street Games Us Girls merchandise.
