On Sunday, December 15, Tenby Dolphins held their annual club championships and awards evening. Over 60 swimmers took part in 50 events, comprising of front crawl, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly and an individual medley.

The swimmers varied in age from six years old up to 15 years old and were split into 10 different age groups. We started off with the eight and under girls; they all swam 25m of each stroke and a 100m individual medley.

This age group was dominated by Cerys Morgan, who won each event, showing off some good swimming skills. She was closely pushed by the rapidly improving Toni Spiller, Mabli Evans and Roxy Haley, who at six was our youngest competitor, proving that you are never too young to compete.

Then the eight and under boys took to the pool; they also swam 25m of each stroke and a 100m IM.

Jayden Keane dominated this age group, winning each race in impressive style. He was closely pushed by Oscar Miles, Toby Price and Iori Clarkson, who had to settle for a share of the silver and bronze medals - well done boys.

The most keenly entered age group was the nine to 10 year old girls. Eighteen girls took part in these races, and one really shone, namely Caitlin Rees. Her hard work in training is definitely paying off and she won all of her races in her own typically determined style.

She was pushed hard by Olwen Evans, who claimed three silver medals, Ella Warren-Stock, who claimed one silver and three bronze, Mia Phillips got a great silver in the 25m fly and there were also bronze medals for Gwen Dodd and Ameya Neye.

This was a really closely run age group, so well done to all who took part.

The nine to 10 year old boys was also a close run age group. Aidan Howitt won the 50m backstroke, 25m fly and 100m IM, Harry Thomas won the 50m front crawl, Dylan Morgan won the breast stroke, while Archie Dilks claimed four silvers and a bronze for his hard work in all the races.

There were also good swims from Brynley Moore and Iwan Davies, who just missed out on the medals.

The 11 - 12 year old girls age group was dominated by Arabella Haley, who won each race in impressive form; the hard work she putting in is certainly paying off. The other medals were shared between Emily Dilks - four silvers and one bronze, and Alanya Thomas - one silver and 4 bronze.

There were also some solid swims from Josie Dodd, in her first gala, and Madison Neye, who just missed out on the medals.

The 11 - 12 year old boys age group was a close run event, but Billy Greenwood came out on top, claiming four golds and one silver, from Caleb O'Neill, who claimed one gold and four silvers, Lloyd Thomas claimed five bronze medals for some good swims.

Alex John, Joshua Silcox and William Davies swam well - but just missed out on the medals.

Next came the 13 - 14 year old girls, and this was really close. Katie Hicks came out on top, winning the 100m front crawl, 50m breast stroke and 50m fly, while Talia Merriman won the 100m back stroke and 200m IM, Jemma Hurds claimed one silver and four bronze medals and unfortunately Lauren Watkins just missed out on a podium place, but swam really well throughout all the races.

The 13 - 14 year old boys age group was also a closely run category. Owen Thomas came out on top, winning the 100m front crawl, 50m breast stroke, 50m butterfly and the 200m IM by 100th of a second from Luke Dedoncker, who won the 100m backstroke and picked up four silver medals, while George Greenwood claimed five bronze medals for his efforts.

The 15 and over boys age group was dominated by Harry Kemp, who won all his races, in particular a superb 62 seconds for 100m front crawl.

In the girls 15 and over races, Safi Rooney claimed three gold medals for the 100m front crawl, 50m breast stroke and the 100m IM, while Lydia Dilks won the 100m back stroke and 50m butterfly; there was only a second between them in most of the races.

At the annual awards presentation, the following swimmers got recognised for their efforts throughout the year. County coach Craig Nelson selected and presented the prizes as follows:

Coaches Choice Awards: Girls - Toni Spiller; Boys - Jayden Keane.

Most Improved girl - Caitlin Rees; Most Improved Boy - Harry Kemp.

Most Improved Overall Club Swimmer - Arabella Haley .
