Just one match to report on from our recent club activity which was on August 11, a rover, with event HQ at Kilgetty Information Centre. Most of the 12 anglers struggled if truth be told, except the 'Young Guns'who were having none of that and duly romped away with the top prize....Any way.

The 12 entrants scattered far and wide to the usual (as far as we can tell!) venues, including the Haven, Flimston, Manorbier, Stackpole, St. Govstep and so on... and eventually the species tally was Starry Hound, Common Hound, Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing, LSD (oo ray!), Top Pot Blenny, Goby, Trigger Fish and undersized mackerel.

Although the weights were scratchy at best, except for Dan and Ben, we just managed to sneak over the 300kg mark of fish weighed in for the year. Ben and Dan had a brilliant total of 18kg, Pugs and Adamski were their usual consistent selves, with Totter doing the legwork for Rommel so that they came third!

Mucho congrats go to all the competitors this year who have collectively made it a stunning year for the records. Let's hope the autumn and winter follow this pattern.

Results were: 1. Dan Thomas and Ben Cook (he hates being shown as 2nd!) 18.399kg; 2. Pugs Protheroe and Adamski Roberts, 2.460 kg; 3. Totter Taylor and Rommel Richards, 1.410kg.

Well done to Kieran Allen who took the junior prize and tapped the door on the top pot blenny record with a monster of 0.082g. Thanks to Joe Pro too for helping Lewis out with a lift after his distressing week and thanks to Lewis for making the match secretary's day with a new set of club scales! Bootyful....

Joe Pro now leads the species chase again following his crucial Corkwing Wrasse and Pugs has joined the chasing gaggle on 10 species. We have now had 24 different species to the scales this year. Great fun guys, keep it up!

There are two amendments to the published match list to report. The match originally scheduled for Sunday, September 8, will now take place on Saturday evening the 7th to avoid the usual travel issues associated with the 'Ironman' event. Booking in will be at Kilgetty Information Centre again and this match will now be a full Rover, two rods, fishing with others etc. etc. and depart at 5 pm return by 11 pm sharp. And... the match scheduled for September 22 has been cancelled as Haven Angling Group's annual open will be taking place that day at Pendine.

Any information at any time from Nev on 07500 417737 or through the usual social networking / internet sources.
