NEYLAND DUATHLON – Edward Clements 5km Run, 20km Bike and 5km run coming in seventh overall. It was held in tough weather conditions based around the sea-front in Neyland. The runs are flat and fast, with the bike course throwing in a few lumps and bumps, but plenty of really fast flat and downhill sections.
THE WILDFLOWER DUATHLON – Kara Ellard in 1hr 42 and Hel Murray in 2hrs 12. The race started with a 5km run, 12 mile bike (was supposed to be 18 miles, but due to weather conditions it was reduced for safety reasons), finishing with another 5km run.
This was a brand new race for 2019 and took place in the breath-taking scenery of the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and surrounding roads. Kara said, “never nearly been halted by wind on a bike or run before!”
BARCELONA MARATHON - Emma Richards 4hrs 2. Runners started and finished below the green hills of Montjuic Park in front of the Magic Fountain. They then raced thorough the city enjoying many of the sites of the Catalan capital. Along the way they saw Camp Nou (home to FC Barcelona), Gaudi’s magnificent La Pedrera and his cathedral masterpiece Sagrada Familia, as well as the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
FOUR SEASONS SPRING MARATHON - Mandy Draper around the stunning Margam Park. Mandy completed the first 13 miles in Air Ambulance crew boots in preparation for her London Marathon in full crew kit, getting a few funny looks!
INVERNESS HALF MARATHON – Ricki Morgan in 1hr 25 mins. The route started alongside the banks of the River Ness near the centre of Inverness, taking in many of the city’s icons, with the finish line on entering Queen’s Park Stadium at Inverness Sports Centre - achieved by over 2,800 runners in 2018.
WORLD ICE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS – All the best best to Alistair Tazer Bell, one of 14 Team GB members travelling to Russia for the World Championships for Ice Swimming in Murmansk, in the Arctic Circle today (Friday).
RCT AQUATHON – 400metre swim followed by a 4km run, Vicky Jones coming in first lady.
