NIGHT RIDER 2017
Wayne Diggy Duignan completed his third City Night Ride on Sunday morning. He has now finished London, Bristol and Liverpool riding 62 miles on ‘quieter’ city roads past iconic landmarks and received his well-deserved trio of medals
TENFOOT SWIM
Many thanks to the 21 Aces who supported this inaugural event amongst the other 152 swimmers who started from the North Beach and finished 3.4 miles later on Saundersfoot Beach. Pity it was a grey misty day, but this did not dampen spirits, as sea conditions were in our favour.
Tenby to Waterwynch was fine, then to Monkstone there was a current and swell - John Hubbard, part of the safety crew in his kayak could be seen clearly in his Aces top ‘patrolling’ by the cliffs. Stopped at Monkstone Beach to check in, Simon Rossiter was on the beach to greet us with water and jelly babies. I took a handful and threw them towards my mouth andmissed - I know unbelievable!
Going through Monkstone Point was a bit hairy, but fun. Then to Saundersfoot was like a pool swim, with all the safety craft and Tenby Lifeboat lining our route. Great welcome at the finish!
MILFORD HAVEN
GO TRI
With two Ironman Wales 2017 places up for grabs in the competitors draw at the Meades Leisure Centre, Gareth Rees, James Silvester and Billy Connor decided to compete individually in a 400 metres pool swim, 13.2 mile cycle over as far as Tiers Cross and a 5 km run along the streets to Steynton back to Leisure Centre via Priory Road. Alas they didn’t win a place!
We also had a relay team comprising of the Tenby Observer Aces - Andy Adamson swimming, Ceris Hewlings cycling and Donna James doing the run.
We incorporated our Sunday Club Ride to support the guys, poor Billy coming off his bike and is now sporting some rather nasty road rash!
Nice to have Steve White and Ashley Griffiths with us and Shaun Griffiths meeting us at Milford as he hadn’t noticed we’d left at 8 am!
