Sainsbury's Tenby has presented its local West Wales Ladies Bowling Association with a community grant of £50.
This helped to support the cost of a spring luncheon organised to raise funds for the association and held at Saundersfoot Bowling Club last month to celebrate club member Ceris Hewlings's role as junior vice-president. The successful event raised over £1,350.
The Sainsbury's community grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of 'Bags for Life'. So for customers at Sainsbury's Tenby buying a 'Bag for Life', means they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.
Sainsbury's PR ambassador Lorraine Jones said: "Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about West Wales Ladies Bowling Association, we were really pleased to be able to help out."
Last year alone the community grants scheme provided £135k worth of donations, nominated by depot and store managers and colleagues from stores nationwide.
