Aberystwyth 14 pts.

Tenby United 23

A blistering hat-trick inside the opening 21 minutes of the South Hook LNG Pembrokeshire Knockout Cup final from Tenby winger Simon Stanford, saw the Seasiders bring home the trophy for the first time in 10 years.

The final at the King George Vth Memorial Ground in Cardigan saw Tenby United fly into a 20-0 lead against Aberystwyth, with the opening try coming inside the first minute when a counter-attack from the Seasiders resilted in second row Luke Dedman putting Stanford over in the corner, although outside-half Tom Lewis missed with the conversion.

Soon after, the Seasiders were on the scoresheet again, when centres Dai Meyrick and Toby Smith combined to put Stanford over for his second touchdown,

Lewis failed again with the extra points, but converted a simple penalty not long after.

From the re-start, Aber were given their first chance to get on the scoreboard when the Tenby pack were penalised, but scrum-half Llyr Thomas missed with the penalty kick.

Tenby's third try and the hat-trick for Stanford came when number eight Sam Smith made a courageous run to set up Lewis who chipped into the hands of the right winger who went over under the posts for his third.

Lewis stepped up and was successful with the conversation to give the Seasiders what seemed like an unassailable lead.

Aber managed to hit back not long after with a Thomas penalty in front of the posts, and the scrum-half went onto convert two more penalties in succession.

With half-time approaching, Aber broke from their own 22, when outside-half Ifan Thomas chipped ahead and centre Rhodri Richards picked up the ball and eventually fed Matthew Green, who crossed in the corner to cut the Seasiders' lead.

Lewis put over a simple penalty after the break to increase Tenby's lead before Thomas failed with an attempt soon after for the opposition.

Seasiders skipper Nicky Guymer was sin-binned for a technical offence, but Aber couldn't make the extra man count and Tenby regained control of the game to see out a 23-14 victory.
