LADIES' SECTION
Lynne Rees and Ria Phillips (pictured right) represented South Pembrokeshire Golf Club at Wenvoe Castle in the area finals of the Peugeot Coronation Foursomes after winning the local heat.
On greens like glass, they were well placed at 13th from 46 teams, and only six stableford points behind the winners, who play the national final at St. Andrews in September.
At a local level, South Pembrokeshire ladies played Newport Links ladies at Newport (Pembs.) on Friday, August 3, in atrocious weather, just losing by three points to two.
SENIORS' SECTION
The greatly anticipated trip to Glyn Abbey Golf Club, took place on Thursday, August 2, where as usual the seniors' home captain, Mal Hughes, and his fellow team members, extended a very warm welcome to South Pembs. Golf Club.
Apart from a heavy downpour late morning, the weather was kind for the duration of the match.
Home advantage held firm, with a win of 5 to 3 for Glyn Abbey.
The South Pembrokeshire captain put up a single-handed defence, but went down fighting 6 and 5.
However, the visitors managed success in three of their games.
Keith Rees/Harold James, Mike Williams/Mike Bradney and Mac McCormack/Chris Clarkson, 3 and 2, 3 and 1, 2 and 1, respectively.
Thanks to solid driving and a spectacular display of chipping by Mac, backed by a somewhat less than convincing performance by yours truly, in those immortal words 'could do better' - well played Super Mac.
Congratulations must be passed on to the ground staff as the course and greens were in excellent condition.
The catering staff also provided an excellent meal.
All in all, a great day was enjoyed by everyone.
