Playing catch up is the name of the game for a host of Pembrokeshire football teams since the clocks went forward, with the first round of mid-week matches getting underway on Tuesday and the fixtures produced some interesting derbies and interesting results.

Had Narberth managed to beat Tenby they would have drawn level with Goodwick on points as the Phoenix Park outfit could only manage a draw against Neyland, but the Bluebirds went down to the Seasiders as the visitors warmed up for their first ever Senior Cup final with a workmanlike 2-0 victory.

Narberth may have put up a better showing than when they went down to a heavy defeat against their foes earlier in the year, but goals by Sonny Phillips and Darryl Mansbridge put paid to a chance to draw level with Goodwick and most probably an outside chance of winning the league.

Saundersfoot Sports hosted St. Clears and beat the Saints 2-1 in a lively encounter to help their quest in avoiding relegation.

Kristian Issacs found the back of the net for the away team, but goals by Russell Evans and Nicky Cope gave the home side the points

Pennar Robins grabbed the bragging rights over Hundleton as the away side most probably condemned the home team to life in division two next season following a 2-0 win as goals by Sam Southcott and Phil Thompson proved to be the difference between the sides.

At West Dragons, Monkton Swifts secured their ninth win of the season as they demolished the home side 4-1.

Dan Scourfield scored twice for the visitors before a goal apiece by Joe Lewis and Wayne Brunton secured the points.

In division three, Lamphey slipped up in their promotion bid as they went down to a 3-1 defeat at Camrose, despite Dan Kitts scoring, while Cosheston Cougars had an evening to forget at Hubberston, losing 6-1, with Carl Rees netting their only goal

The honours were shared between Lawrenny and Manorbier United as the game ended 3-3.

Luke Askew stole the show for United as he finished with a brace, while Andrew Joseph added the other goal, while for the home side; the goals were scored by Patrick Elliott, Dean Morris and Owen James.

Two games were also played in division five as Kilgetty seconds lost 3-1 to Carew thirds, while Solva beat Letterston.

Over the weekend, the results were mixed to say the least. Pennar Robins went down 3-0 to Goodwick United, while Narberth beat Neyland 2-1 thanks to goals by Jordan Williams and Tony Evans

A fine win by St. Clears at home to West Dragons secured their place in division one for next season as Nick Squire and Steve Thomas both scored against a team four places higher than them in the league.

Saundersfoot Sports went down 6-2 at home to Monkton Swifts, while goals by Richard Perry, Sam Christopher and Martin Carroll ensured Tenby beat St. Ishmaels 3-1.

Kilgetty were hopeful their win last week would have boosted their chances of avoiding the drop, but after their 6-0 mauling at the hands of Clarbeston Road, a team at the other end of the spectrum who are looking at promotion, then the chances of them doing so remain slim.

Carew travelled to Johnston seconds and won convincingly against the Tigers 7-1, while Angle cemented their place at the top of division two thanks to a 3-0 win at Pennar Robins' seconds with goals by Craig Brockway, Dean Lawrence and Chris Richards.

Narberth seconds entertained Camrose and came through a good examination to win 3-2.

Tom Richards stole the show with a well-taken brace, with Dylan Davies also getting on the scoresheet to make sure of the points.

Cosheston Cougars went down 3-0 at Haverfordwest Cricket Club, while Lawrenny drew 3-3 at home to Hubberston, with the goals coming from Owen James, Mattie Lewis and James Bodinger

There was no game for Manorbier United as their match against Merlins Bridge seconds was postponed, but the win of the day was secured by Tenby seconds as they hammered Pennar Robins' thirds 10-1 thanks to goals by Mo Sofan, Brett Evans and Elliot Goldsmith, while James Nicholas and Ricky Rees Thomas finished with a brace apiece. Man of the match was Richard Tebbitt, however, as he finished with a hat-trick.

Pendine, meanwhile, were at Milford Athletic and won 3-2.

Results haven't been kind to St. Clears' seconds of late and their result on Saturday showed just how their form has tailed off.

Travelling away at Milford United, they went down 7-0 against the Robins' reserves for one of their worst defeats of the season.

Pembroke Boro secured an excellent home win over Neyland seconds, winning 5-0 as Marc Evans and Martin Rees scored two each, with Jason Chapman netting the other, while Carew seconds drew 2-2 at West Dragons' reserves, with two goals by Scott Ferney

Narberth thirds travelled to Angle to take on their seconds and came away with a fine win.

They beat the mid-table team 3-2 as the goals were shared between Luke Davies, Folaoluwhan Dairo and Rhys Jones, while Tom Grimwood and Jake Seaton scored for the visitors.

Carew thirds beat Monkton Swifts thirds 3-0 as Alex Moore, Sam Harts and Harry Ryan all scored, while bragging rights in the south Pembrokeshire derby were secured by Cosheston seconds as they hammered Pembroke Boro seconds 8-1. Steve Baghurst scored for the visitors, but they were no match for the home side as Carl Rees scored three, Matthew Cheung one and Raymond Lo twice to put the game beyond doubt.

It was a good weekend for Lawrenny seconds as they beat Herbrandston 3-1 after goals by Chris Buckle, Sam Mills and Steve Campbell, while finally, Kilgetty seconds fared little better than their first team as they entertained Solva and lost 7-0.
