The first round of the Senior Cup got underway over the weekend, with the first round producing what has to be the biggest shock of the season so far.

St. Clears were drawn away at league leaders Narberth and managed to beat the home side 6-2 at Jesse Road, a result that would have seemed improbable before kick-off.

Dean Morris and Tony Evans were the men to score for the home side, but Steve Thomas was the undoubted star of the show, if not the entire first round, as he slammed in five goals against this year's in-form team. Ian Derbyshire grabbed the other for the Saints as they definitely did go marching home.

Craig Hurst gave Pendine the only reason to smile at Herbrandston as they were beaten 5-1, while at Kilgetty Saundersfoot Sports won the local derby 2-1.

Former Carmarthen Town favourite Dean Rossiter gave the home side hope with a classy finish, but goals from Sam Butler and Chris Millward put the game beyond doubt.

Carew played host to Merlins Bridge, yet there was no home team magic as the visiting Wizards ensured a swift and easy passage into the next round with a 7-0 victory, while Lawrenny also lost by seven goals at home to Goodwick United.

They did manage two, though, as Matthew and Jamie Lewis found the back of the net, but nine goals by the visiting Phoenix boys gave them a simple path into round two.

Tenby were on fire at the Clicketts, however, as they demolished last year's runners-up West Dragons.

The home side carved out a 6-1 victory over the highly fancied visitors as a brace apiece by Sam Christopher and Billy Vaughan, followed by goals from Jerome Mansbridge and Jordan Richards, ensured it was they who went through and not last year's finalists.

In league action, Narberth seconds went down 2-0 at Camrose, while St. Clears' seconds made it a day to remember for the club as they trounced St. Ishmaels 3-0 at home.

Simon Bancroft scored yet again for the Saints' reserves, before Lloyd Evans and Steve Trivet knocked one in to put the game beyond doubt.

Harry Ryan and James Nicholls ensured it was a good day for Tenby as their seconds defeated Manorbier United 2-0 away, while Carew seconds enjoyed a good day at Hundleton after winning 3-0.

Harry Ryan, Scott Cowder and Alan Townsend all found the back of the net for the visitors to ensure they won their second game of the season.

Saundersfoot seconds were involved in one of the day's most exciting encounters as they won 6-4 at home to Monkton Swifts' reserves.

Luke Brolan led the way with a fine hat-trick before Geoff Marsh got in on the act with a brace and Jason Bridges nipped in for the sixth.

If that was excitement personified, spectators at St. Florence were treated to an even better spectacle as the home side drew 5-5 with Milford Athletic.

Ashley Smith was on the scoreboard once again after completing a hat-trick, while Adam Conbeer's brace helped ensure they had a share of the spoils in a clash of epic proportions.

Carew thirds grabbed their third win of the season with a flowing 3-0 win over Camrose, with goals coming from Alex Moore, Joel Downes and Sean Gelona, while Kilgetty seconds lost 3-2 at Letterston.

Narberth thirds went down 6-0 at home to Llangwm, but it was better news for Lawrenny seconds as they secured their fifth win of the season after winning 2-1 at Monkton Swifts.
