Tenby United 21 pts.
Crymych 13
Tenby United put their recent run of injuries and less than favourable results well and truly behind them on Saturday with an all-round performance against local rivals Crymych.
Despite the worsening weather, both sides looked to play an expansive game and it was the GD Harries, Molson Coors, FBM Holidays and Andrew Price sponsored Seasiders that ultimately dominated the game, taking their chances and silencing their critics on their way to a much-needed and vital home victory.
Crymych struck early with a penalty kicked by outside-half Dafan Daffydd, but this was to be the only time that the Preseli outfit saw themselves in the lead as the Seasiders dominated the lineout and scrummage all afternoon, denying their guests of much quality possession and defending well to keep their line intact for the majority of the game.
Despite the two teams battling each other and the elements, it was the home side that looked the more threatening and it was only the gritty Crymych defence that kept them from scoring until the half-hour mark.
After many an attack on the visitors' line, the United finally breached the Crymych defences and it was a fine solo effort from youth team player Jordan Asparassa that put the Seasiders' first points on the board.
The talented young winger gathered the ball on the halfway line and through pace and determination he cut the visitors' defences to shreds on his way in to touch down under the posts for the Ashley Sutton converted try.
With Crymych's defence still shell-shocked, it was only two minutes later that Tenby fullback Damo Miller chased his own chip ahead from inside their half to re-gather and canter in for the touchdown in the corner.
The Sutton conversion attempt was just held up by the strengthening Heywood Lane wind and bounced back off the wrong side of the upright, but the Seasiders had played into the elements for the first half and were happy with their half-time lead of 12 points to 3.
Crymych's Dafan Daffydd narrowed the deficit early in the second half with another well-struck penalty, which was matched soon after by a superb touchline penalty from the Seasiders' outside-half Sutton and United edged further ahead.
Despite a period of strong defensive efforts from the Tenby outfit and their ever-dominant forwards winning every previous scrummage, the referee still decided that a collapsed scrum on the United's five-metre line was unworthy of a reset and he awarded the visitors a penalty try, which Daffydd duly converted.
The Seasiders didn't let this frustrate them and they continued to use all of their pack's well-earned possession to good effect and most of the second half was played in Crymych territory.
Sutton put paid to any late resurgence from the Preseli men with two well-struck dropped goals, the second of which was landed right on the final whistle and gave the Seasiders an excellent all-round victory by 21 points to 13.
The Seasiders main sponsors GD Harries and Sons Ltd and key sponsors Molson Coors were also Saturday's match sponsors and all at Tenby United value their continued support and are extremely grateful to them and are proud to be affiliated with them.
There will be no game this weekend for the Seasiders due to the Autumn Internationals, but all of the Wales games will be shown on the big screen at the clubhouse.
Tenby United fielded: Damo Miller, Jordan Asparassa (James Woods), Jack Guerreiro, Toby Smith, Mark Heywood, Ashley Sutton, Will Crockford, Rob Weston, Luke Hansford (Harry Bolton), Patrick Roberts, Wyndham Wiliams (Ashley Murdoch), Luke Dedman, Johnny Palmer (Lyndon Jones), Gareth Jones (captain), Rob Clark.
