Saturday, November 29, saw seven members try their luck off the harbour. The evening saw a few dogfish, whiting and dabs come to the scales. Result was: 1. Gareth Protheroe; 2. Franco Attanasio; 3. Mel Matthews; 4. Andy Young.

It turned out to be Gareth (Pugs) Protheroe's night, for not only did he win the club fees of £20, but he also drew the golden peg worth £353 - a nice early Christmas present Pugs!

Sunday was the annual fur and feather Nicky Hudson memorial match, sponsored by Heywoods, of Saundersfoot. Thirteen anglers took to Saundersfoot beach on what was a cold and in parts miserable day. Fishing was a bit slow, but five out of the bunch proved that local knowledge, correct bait and, of course, lots of skill was the key to success.

Winning the Nicky Hudson Trophy and a £50 Heywoods voucher was local match maestro, Llewellyn Rose, bass, flounder, and dab; runner-up, team ginger no two in command, Robbie 'boxer' Beynon, £30 Heywoods voucher, six nice flounder in the bucket; 3. close behind Rob with six flounder, £20 Heywood's voucher was the one and only, me; 4. going to magical Melvin Matthews; 5. Stuart 'donkey' Allen.

Big thank you to Paul and Judith Heywood for their continued support.

Thanks to Saundersfoot Sports Club for the after-match food and use of the club for the presentation and raffle (£123 for charity).

Thanks to all the anglers for supplying the raffle prizes and everyone in the club for their generosity.

Next match is Sunday at Amroth, latest time to sign in, 5.15 am, yes am, by slip, fishing 6-11. Match sponsors for this doubles championship, Hughes and John Haulage Contactors, Cresselly (the big red tipper trucks) - cheers Dyker. Weigh-in and presentation at venue (or Amroth Arms)!

Wishing you all a merry Christmas and tight lines to all you anglers out there.
