SAILING REPORT
Sunday saw two scheduled races of the Frostbite series, and after two light wind races on the first weekend, Sunday saw much fresher conditions with a strong easterly wind and white horses in the bay. A few brave souls (or as one of the safety crew commented ‘slightly mad’) ventured out under the careful eye of James and Clare in the box with Tom/John and Steve/James Roberts on safety so thanks to all of them.
The Contenders of Maurice and Simon seemed to be revelling in the conditions, likewise the youthful Ben and Aled were coping well. Hywel bravely made up the numbers to ensure a start was possible, but after his award for ‘synchronised swimming/ capsizing,’ the previous night, he now seemed to be participating in some sort of aqua aerobics or diving with a series of spectacular cartwheels keeping us all entertained, but well done Hywel for making it out.
Maurice took control early on, but a swim on the last lap saw Simon come through to take the win from Maurice with Aled sailing his Topper superbly into third place, with numbers now down there was no second race, possibly to the relief of all!
The previous night we had an excellent social night in the clubhouse for the presentation of the sail training awards and the annual dinghy racing prizes for the 2016 season following another successful season , a good night was enjoyed by all and a more detailed report will follow next week.
The next scheduled races of the Frostbite series are on November 6, with further races to follow on November 13 and 20. See the Facebook dinghy page for more details and thanks to those who have come forward for duties.
An early notice to members is that the annual AGM will be held at the clubhouse on November 19, at 11 am. Further details to follow soon.
