Remembrance Sunday

The club was represented at the Remembrance Service at St. Issell's, with Rob Tallboys laying the wreath from the club.

Frostbite

A somewhat light breeze taunted eight competitors for the last two Frostbite Series races last Sunday. There was a typically mixed fleet comprised of two Solos, a Wayfarer, a Topper, a Phantom, an RS Vision, a Laser, a Tasar and an RS200.

Chris Bannister and Tom set a Monkstone, Pendine, Harbour course which stimulated a very close race at the front with mere seconds between the first three.

Whilst concentration on the water must have been on making the best course, the results so far in this series meant that it was all to play for with the finishing positions in these races settling the overall result!

After handicap adjustments, David Plester (Solo) took the win just ahead of Peter Bower (Phantom) who was mere seconds ahead of Paul and Julia Griffiths (RS200), with Alan Lambert and Rachel Tudor (Tasar) fourth.

As the breeze fell even lighter, the course was altered to Monkstone, Amroth, Pendine, Harbour and only a single lap was floated round by all boats, but still with very close positions between the leaders who finished in the same order as in the first race.

So the season ended with some sunshine and a really tight finish decided by the final race. The full Frostbite Series results will be reported later.

Darts

The cup match against the two Castle teams last Friday was truly a match of two halves! After a fierce battle in which we needed to recruit some new members for help, we overcame Castle B five games to three. Elation prevailed - briefly! But our stamina, will power and skills were insufficient against the A Team. They imposed a clean whitewash in quick order which was perhaps a grateful relief as it was approaching midnight by the finish!

We have a home match against Tenby Bowling Club tonight (Friday).

Final Call

We look forward to a full club tomorrow (Saturday) night for our end of season laying up supper. All those requiring food need to contact Rob please on (01834) 814424 or email [email protected]">[email protected]

Full faculties need to be restored by Sunday lunchtime for the annual general meeting at 2 pm. Maybe a light lunch in the club would be a good preparation? All members are encouraged to participate so that the club provides what everyone wants.

Games and Fun Night

We've arranged a rematch with the Wiseman's Bridge Rowing Club for Saturday, November 24, and invite all members and friends to come along to the club for beer, darts and bar skittles in the spirit of friendly rivalry. You don't have to be an expert or even accurate darter or skittle player to take part. (Though some of the guys from Wiseman's Bridge RC have been spotted practising their aim with the arrows - but we took all the numbers off the dart board and stuck them in the wrong place to confuse them). In fact, at the time of writing, we have only eight skittles, but hopefully by the day we will have a full set and, if not, we will make up our own rules! We also have a large tub of polyfilla on hand just in case of errant arrows.

The bar will be open from 8.30 pm, with 'kick-off' planned for 9 pm. It promises to be a fun evening and we look forward to a full house on the night.
