Sunday Sailing
The weather once again had the last word on Sunday preventing the last race of the main season with strong winds and a really miserable day of rain and cloud. However, we have the 'final final' word with the prize giving ceremony tomorrow (Saturday) at 8 pm which will not be prevented by weather and is sure to end the season on a high note. All members are welcome, the bar will be open and there will be a free buffet to keep you going!
Frost Bite Series
Undeterred by the summer weather, the racing continues with the Frost Bite Series with two races this coming Sunday starting at 10 am. In previous seasons, it has not been unusual to have more benign weather during this series than in the more traditional sailing months - we wait and see.
Sail Training
Awards
It has clearly been a good season for sail training and all participants will receive their awards at tomorrow's prize giving event at 8 pm.
New WYA Training
A new series of winter training sessions are being planned to offer performance training in asymmetric dinghies to Welsh under 18 sailors. The first session is to take place on the weekend of November 10-11 at Tata Sailing Club, Margam. The cost will be about £20 per day. Anyone interested contact Sam Healy on [email protected]">[email protected].
Darts
Penance was duly paid to the Parsonage team after the closely fought home match last Friday when we suffered a 4-7 loss. But our performance was to be commended against one of the top league teams. Wendy Bower achieved man-of-the-match (a double achievement!) by winning her singles and doubles matches. It was good to welcome new team member Brett Jenkins who joined us for his first match and only just lost out in his singles match.
Tonight's (Friday) match is away against Cresselly Cricket Club.
Sailing Success
for Members
Club president Rolfe John's son Mark, who many will remember winning races when he sailed at Saundersfoot, continues his sailing success from afar in Australia. In the Laser Full Handicap race at his Brisbane Sailing Squadron on September 22, he came a comfortable first out of 16 boats. There is clearly a more imaginative approach to naming boats down under as those he beat included 'Slippery', 'Rocking Chair', 'Sheep Dog', 'Plum Crazy', 'Masochist' and 'Steam Train'! It is good to see he promotes his origins as his boat is 'Mor y Ddraig' (Red Sea Dragon).
Meanwhile, back nearer home, Rosie Myers secured 11th place in the Topper Main fleet at the Welsh Championships in Newquay last weekend.
