Sunday Racing
Nine boats put out for last Sunday's late season races. There were two retirements in the first race which saw some close competition for the first three places after three laps. Keith Jones (Streaker) took the win from Mark and Debbie Tissiman (Fireball) with Paul Griffiths (Solo) coming a close third.
In the second race, Keith maintained his dominance with Paul advancing into second place with Paul Johnson (Blaze) securing third.
This coming Sunday, the race start is 4.30 pm.
Round Caldey Race
Cruiser sailors will be hoping for decent conditions for the annual Round Caldey race at 10 am this Sunday. Last year's event was one of the best ever so let's hope for similar conditions.

Nautical Nip
Skipper's Mate has been away from dock for the last two weeks, firstly attending the launch of a newly-built replica of a three-masted 65-foot lugger with balanced rig which was originally built around 1760. The build copied the original methods and techniques with little deference to modern technology - eg. wooden trenails (like dowels) for fixings and oakum and caulking for water proofing. Two thousand people attended a truly epic launch near Plymouth last week.
The newly-christened Grayhound will be taking passengers and offering charters from next spring. More details at http://www.grayhoundluggersailing.co.uk">www.grayhoundluggersailing.co.uk.
Absence continued in order to participate with 80,000 others in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, which in the psychedelic flesh, was even more memorable and amazing than on any screen however large! This was GB 2012 Son et Lumiere with a difference!
Dispatches on club activities have thus been somewhat curtailed, but the press gangs are out and Skipper's Mate will no doubt be pressed back into full working order shortly.
