Last Friday, we once again descended the slippery slope of disaster - failing to get the winning double. At five games to two, our opponents, Tenby Rugby Club, had only to win one more game to have taken the match. Then, from some deep reserve of skills, the Kraken woke and we all won the remaining four games on the trot to obtain our first win of the year. A good evening for all as our opponents share the same attitude as us, which is to enjoy regardless of result. Our surprise and delight at the win was rewarded with homemade shepherds pie and we all went home exhilarated.
There is no match this week. Next week (March 2), we are away to The Plough at Sageston, but no longer cowed and subdued!
Six Nations
The big one tomorrow (Saturday) with kick-off against England in Twickenham at 4 pm. There is still plenty of room in the club for more members to attend with guests and enjoy the match, good ale and club grub - all part of the deal - don't miss out.
Wi-Fi at the Clubhouse
Wi-Fi access is now provided as a free service for members wishing to use their own laptops, tablets, or mobiles at the club. It is encrypted so you will need a passkey which is posted on the noticeboard inside the clubhouse. Please note, it has a limited range, so we can't guarantee you will be able to pick up a strong enough signal to use it around the harbour.
Subscriptions
It's still renewal time; please send forms and cheques to Jackie Riby. If you need a form, they are on the web at http://www.saundersfootsailingclub.org.uk">www.saundersfootsailingclub.org.uk
The door code is new for this year and is advised on renewal - don't find yourselves locked out!
Harbour
Commission
We are pleased to report that the first meeting of the advisory committee has now been arranged for early March. This committee is charged under the harbour order to advise on all matters substantially affecting the management, maintenance, improvement, conservation, protection or regulation of the harbour and its navigation.
The increased mooring fees which have concerned many are likely to be an early topic for consideration.
