With the club benefiting from two bumper weekends, with both the bar and main hall overflowing with visiting Wales supporters, we return to club rugby this weekend (with our only game in the month of February) with the visit of Llangennech RFC to Heywood Lane and the usual 2.30 KO.
We played the visitors earlier in the season and came away with nothing, losing 21-13 on a very heavy pitch, spurning an opportunity in the dying seconds to go for the potential three points from a penalty award, and kicking for touch, which came to nothing and we lost the chance to come away with a least a losing bonus point. That is water under the bridge and the season has moved on with Llangennech sitting fourth in the table on 37 points, while Tenby United are just below them in eighth position and on 33 points.
It is hoped that the rest since our last game, way back on January 20, has helped several of the injured players regain fitness and don the red and black jersey this Saturday for what is expected to be a tough encounter
On Wednesday, February 28, TURFC and Heywood Lane will host the area final of the British Police Cup with Dyfed-Powys taking on Gwent Police, with a kick-off at 6 pm, all support welcomed for what is anticipated to be a great game to watch.
With Crymych RFC involved in the quarter-final of the WRU Plate on Saturday, March 10, the league game scheduled for that date at Heywood Lane has been moved to Thursday, March 15, with a 7.15 KO. With Crymych in search of points to lift them off the foot of the table, while Tenby will be keen to get their winning habit back into action a thrilling encounter is expected - again all support welcomed.
No date has been agreed for the Pembrokeshire and District Cup semi-final game, away at Aberystwyth, with April 16 set as the latest ‘play by date’…. and the final set for Friday, May 11.
