On Sunday, Tenby RFC’s Under 16s travelled to Crymych for their semi-final in the Pembrokeshire Cup.

Having missed out in previous seasons, Tenby were determined to get the result, but Crymych were never going to make it easy for the Seasiders. Two quality teams came together and the result was a real battle and a fantastic game of rugby.

The scoring was opened by Tenby when a penalty awarded in the 22 was knocked over the posts by Alfie Pryor to put his side into an early 0-3 lead.

Crymych replied with some strong runs, gaining valuable territory which finally saw them cross the line and take the lead 5-3. Tenby continued to apply the pressure and run the ball when they could. When it eventually reached the safe hands of Callum Cogger on the wing, he was able to convert the pressure into points and crash over for Tenby's opening try, to see them retake the lead. Pryor completed the conversion to make it 5-10.

A further penalty for Tenby saw them extend the lead to 5-13, but Crymych had the last say of the half with their second try, to cut Tenby’s lead to 10-13.

The second half started as the first ended with another try for the home team and Crymych which saw them retake the lead once again and go 15-13 up.

Tenby stayed united though putting in some big tackles, working hard up front to retain the ball and pushing Crymych back to defend their line.

They were finally rewarded with a try of their own with Hooker Ethan Lewis touching down in the corner and the score now sat at 15-18 in the Seasider's favour.

With the minutes counting down the game was anyone's for the taking but it would be the determination of the Tenby forwards which saw them move through phase after phase before Ollie Tucker spotted the gap and crashed over to clinch the win for Tenby 15-23 and book their place in the Cup Final.
