Sunday saw the current Tenby Swifts Under 7s play their first ever game of rugby, with an amazing 13 players travelling up to a wet and windy Laugharne.

Tenby showed that they have already picked up some great skills, with excellent passing and tagging. A number of players also showed themselves to be exceptional runners, speeding down the sideline to run in the tries.

Laugharne also proved themselves to be a strong home side, enabling the Tenby players to work on their defensive line.

Tenby narrowly came away the winners in a hard fought match, scoring 14 tries to Laugharne’s 13, leaving all players, coaches and parents excited about the rest of the season.

It was such an impressive performance from the boys with everything they are learning in training coming together.

Great sportsmanship was shown as Milford had only four players, so some of the Tenby boys volunteered to play on their team. Great start to the season - well done boys.

Under 11s

Sunday saw Tenby Under 11s kick off their season with an away game to Milford.

The team were keen to build on their successful Under 10s season and also welcomed two new players to the squad with Izzy and Sophie.

With a bigger pitch this season and more space to run both teams came out looking to move the ball.

Weather conditions hampered some attacking play and some big tackles lead to both teams having to work hard in the breakdown to retain the ball.

The first score was to go to Milford with a try in the corner and with conversions in front of the post now in play this season they were to convert the try and make the score 7-0.

The Seasiders were determined to fight back and just before half time a strong run would see Rowan breakaway and score for Tenby, to leave the half time score at 7-5 to Milford.

The second half continued to see both teams apply the pressure but a few forced mistakes by the Seasiders saw Milford take advantage to score their second and convert it to make the score 14-5.

Milford continued to keep the pressure on and soon crossed for their third making the score 21-5. Tenby tried to push forward and get the ball out wide but a missed timed pass meant possession went back to Milford and this allowed them to build a final opportunity to cross the try line to give them a win of score 26-5.

Under 10s

Tenby Swifts Under 10s travelled to Milford last weekend for what would be a very tough encounter.

Captained by Tyler, the Swifts ran head first into one of Pembrokeshire’s toughest defences. Ollie Tucker found this out in the first couple of minutes when he was laid out flat with a bone-crunching tackle; he soon shook it off and the Swifts rallied together as a team and got onto the scoresheet.

Logan and Will H linked up well for a couple of excellent backs moves, while Oli and Bennet remained solid in the pack. With Madoc running the show with his outstanding rugby brain, he gave Rhys, Ethan and George tons of space to run over Milford.

Special mention has to go to Jack, whose ‘never say die’ attitude can be seen by all spectators; however, the man of the match went to an excellent George, his gap finding and solid defence just gets stronger as the season goes on.

Final score: Tenby 8 Milford 1. Tries from Logan (3), Will H (2), George (2), Ollie (1).
