There was no senior men’s, women’s or Youth rugby last weekend as the Six Nations kicked off.

However, a number of age groups were in action over the weekend.

The U16s played Tenby away in a thrilling match that saw both sides trade tries in a full throttle tussle.

There was very little between the sides throughout the game, then with the sides at 19 all and only minutes to go Pembroke’s kicker Ashley Watkins bravely slotted a high pressure penalty to give his side a tremendous win, which was roundly celebrated by all of the squad, coaches and their many supporters.

Meanwhile also on last Friday evening the U12s entertained Tenby under lights, in another well contested match, which enthralled the large crowd that had turned out to support.

Both sides gave everything and after a really exciting battle, Tenby were eventually worthy winners 5-24.

On Sunday a number of other age groups were in action, with the u9s winning a super game against Neyland at home in beautiful weather conditions; both teams being applauded from the pitch by the large crowd.

The U8s and U14s lost to Neyland, whilst the U7s played both H’West and Tenby in a round robin and just edged both their matches.

The U13s lost away in St Clears and the U11s had an exciting match at home to Carmarthen Athletic, which ended a 5-35 win for the visitors.

This Saturday the First XV entertain Felinfoel in a rearranged League fixture, when prior to the game there will be a short tribute in memory of the late, great Phil Bennett, who was a frequent visitor.

There will be a Scots Piper playing a few well known tunes, followed by a minutes clapping prior to kick off at 2 pm.

The Youth will be entertaining Narberth on the same day, KO is 1.30 pm.

The club is holding a ‘grand raffle’ in the months ahead, funds from which will be donated as part of our tribute to the newly formed Bennett Foundation (raffle numbers will be on sale throughout the day).

The club thanks the Scarlets and club member Richard Allen for their donation of prizes and to more friends of the club, who have donated a number of other prizes.

Friday night there is a Quiz Night at the clubhouse starting at 7.15 pm; everyone is welcome to come along, teams of 4-6 and light refreshments will be served during the interval.

A number of other social events in the months ahead have been posted on the events board outside the clubhouse.

The grand once a year 150+ Club Draw winners will be posted by this weekend.
