AFTER over a month on inactivity for most of the club’s squads, due to the extremely wet weather that has rendered pitches unplayable, the Pembroke Panthers finally were able to travel to play Newcastle Emlyn, writes Darrell Willington.
The pitch was still very heavy, which meant that both sides played through their forwards mainly.
However, the Panthers’ skillful backs managed to use the regular possession provided by their eager and hard-working pack to very good effect, putting together some exciting passages of play.
The visitors dominated possession and territory for large portions of the game and with their forwards and backs combining well they scored some excellent tries in both halves.
The home side meantime raised regular attacks themselves, scoring equally good tries, but they also met with some determined defensive work from the visitors, who eventually ran out very worthy winners by 10-41, to the delight of their coaching group and travelling support.
