After the season comes the celebration of successes from the season. The Youth section had another very enjoyable and successful annual dinner at the clubhouse a week ago.

The head coach David Gwyther and his assistants, Nigel Cole, Chris Thomas and Richard Jones, thanked all of the squad for their hard work, determination and perseverance, and reflected on some excellent performances in League and Cup competitions throughout a long season.

The coaching group then had great delight in announcing the following player awards:

Coaches Player of the Season - Tom Harding Jones; Top Try Scorer Tom Harding-Jones; Players Player of the Season - Tom Harding-Jones; Most Improved Player - harry Dawe; Clubman of the Season - jointly awarded to Andrew Evans and Rhys Mainwaring.

Prior to the presentations to the players, all attendees enjoyed an excellent meal prepared and provided by the ladies committee, who were heartily commended for all of their effort and skill.

The squad recently participated in the annual West Wales Junior Finals day at Parc Y Scarlets, where they were representing the Pembroke club and Pembrokeshire against the equivalent Carmarthenshire age group champions, Tumble RFC, who they had played in the same competition the year before.

The boys gave everything they had, but they came up against a very well drilled and athletic side, which possessed some very talented individuals and they eventually lost out to their opponents.

Pembroke coach Neil Humphreys paid tribute to his own squad, whilst congratulating Tumble’s players and coaches for their deserved win.

The club committee would like to add their congratulations for yet another excellent season from this squad, the U16s (who also reached the County Finals) and to all other Junior teams who performed so well throughout the season.

Following on from a highly enjoyable and successful annual dinner at Beggars Reach, on Friday, June 9, the club committee is hosting an event at the clubhouse, where they and the players are able to give their annual thanks to the coaches, team managers, club, match and kit sponsors and supporters, and all other club volunteers who have done all of the background work to facilitate club teams throughout the long past season.

The club committee is extremely grateful to all sponsors, club volunteers, the ladies committee, groundsman, steward and bar staff for their continued support and unstinting work to keep the club facilities and pitches so well presented and a welcoming and friendly place for members and visitors alike.
