WITH the rugby season officially closing and Pembroke First XV finishing second in their WRU Division, the Panthers women’s squad have excelled by achieving a semi-final place in the WRU National Bowl, whilst finishing top of their WRU West Wales League after another highly successful season.

Everyone at the club has been delighted to see their success and Panthers coach Dale Humphrey has heaped praise on his whole squad for their commitment and dedication as they await news of where they will play their rugby next season.

In the final act of a long season for the club, the U7s coaches organised an end-of-season festival for the age group last Sunday.

Twelve teams turned out and everyone had a very enjoyable and successful day. All of the games played were very exciting, with players on both sides giving their all as they completed their season’s activities.

Three of the U11s squad were also in action for the County 7s squad in Brecon, where they all performed very creditably in a very exciting tournament involving teams from all over Wales.

The U13s after winning their age group final at the recent District H Junior Finals day in Haverfordwest, will now represent the District at the Regional Finals at Parc Y Scarlets this coming Sunday.

Everyone at the club wishes them well in their quest to reach the Cardiff finals event.

Members of the Panthers committee members recently picked up their £350 award from Saundersfoot NYDS having taken part in the annual New Year’s swim event.

Another boost for the Panthers has seen coach Humphrey receive news that he had secured a place on the upcoming WRU Level 3 coaching programme.

Last week’s Thursday coffee morning saw regulars enjoy the usual refreshments and dress up to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The large gathering thoroughly enjoyed a great time and enthusiastically joined in with the singing being televised from London’s celebration events.

A BBQ fundraiser is to be held at Cresselly Arms tonight, Wednesday May 14, starting at 5pm, there will be food, a raffle and music.

Tickets for the annual club dinner are on sale in the clubhouse; the dinner will be at the Town Hall on May 23.

The very popular Friday night walking/running club continues for people of all ages and abilities, sessions will go on throughout April, May and June meeting around 6.15pm, then during July, August and September social rugby sessions take over, with U16s starting at 5.30pm for an hour, followed by 16yrs+ starting at 6.30pm, people of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
