Laugharne RFC 64 pts. Pembroke Dock Quins 24

The early kick-off did not suit the Quins, as their hosts ran in four tries in the opening 20 minutes through flanker Mike Williams, left wing Gareth Davies and a brace for centre Owen Thomas, two of which were converted by his fellow centre Tom Jameson, to give his side a 24-point lead.

But the Quins hit back in dramatic style, when first a quickly tapped penalty by young outside-half Aaron Cookson resulted in a try for himself, which he also converted, and next fullback Liam Hargreaves-Gibson, who has had a fine season, finished off some fine attacking play by scoring two tries in two minutes, the latter being converted by Cookson, to haul the score back to 24-19 at the break.

It was the Quins who started the second half on the front foot, and were desperately unlucky not to score when Hywel Baker charged down a Laugharne clearance kick, only for the awkward bounce of a rugby ball denying the Quins which could well have put them in front.

The Quins were dealt a blow when they lost scrum-half Elliot Lewis with a thigh strain, and were reduced to 14 men.

From then on in it was the home side who took control as if they had been awakened by the Quins resurgence.

They soon added tries from Mike Williams (2), prop Rhys Thomas and Owen Thomas, all of which were converted by Tom Jameson.

With the result now not in doubt, it was up to the Quins to see if they could grab a losing bonus point, which they duly did through a determined effort by left wing Will Nicot, who had to work hard for his try.

But Laugharne once again hit back with two late tries of their own through Tom Davies, which was converted by Jameson, and a fourth for Mike Williams to round off the scoring.
