Whitland 59 pts. Pontyberem 0

The Borderers go into the Christmas period in fine festive form after running in nine tries in their Division Two (West) match on Saturday, to overcome visitors Pontyberem.

The hosts saw outside-half Nico Setaro cross over and convert for their first score, with skipper Marc Jones grabbing another first half try, which Setaro also converted.

Whitland went on to enjoy the second half even more, with Jones grabbing his second try, and the back row pair of Ryan Morgan and Jack Mason joining their captain in crossing the try line.

Fullback Scott Newton was soon on the scoresheet, adding a couple of tries to his side’s tally, with replacement centre Jonathan Thomas and prop Rob Morris also getting in on the act with further tries.

Setaro successfully kicked seven of the nine conversions to give the home side an impressive win to leave them third in the table, and looking to put pressure on the top two going into the New Year, with a post Christmas clash to come away to local rivals St.Clears on December 30.
