Llangwm RFC 14 pts.
Pembroke Dock
Quins 59
The Quins came away from Pill Parks on Saturday with all the spoils, scoring no less than nine tries in the process on a pitch which, considering the bad weather, was in remarkably good condition.
It was not until the 11th minute that the Quins first struck when a long clearance kick ended up in the hands of fullback Damien Miller, who counter-attacked with devastating effect, before linking with Neil Harries, who offloaded to supporting centre Dai Rees, who crashed over under the posts.
Outside-half Jonathan Rogers added the extras.
The Quins' scrum was in dominant form, pushing back the Wasps' eight on numerous occasions and it was not long before they struck again with one of the best tries they have scored this season, with Rogers timing his pass to perfection, and the introduction of Miller into the line proving fatal for the home side.
The pacey fullback passed to left wing Liam Smith, who cut in from the left, beating at least three would-be defenders to score once again under the posts.
Rogers popped over the conversion to put the Quins 14 points up.
Llangwm responded by pressing the Quins line and indeed were unfortunate not to score themselves as at least two opportunities went begging.
The Wasps were soon to regret their lost chances as the Quins made them pay severely.
With just five minutes of the half left, a long pass from Rogers sent Miller over for the Quins' third try.
Once again the outside-half converted to put the Quins 21-0 in front.
It got even worse for the Wasps when straight from the kick-off the ball ended up in the hands of Miller, who, with a fine turn of pace, secured the Quins a bonus point try.
Rogers converted to send the Quins in 20 at the break.
Any thoughts of a Llangwm comeback in the second half were soon extinguished when with the half just three minutes old Miller caused nightmares in the home defence before offloading to Smith and the powerful left winger needed no second invitation and scored in the corner.
For once, Rogers missed with the conversion.
The Quins now had scored 19 points in the space of eight minutes as they raced into a 33-point lead.
On 55 minutes, Miller was at it again when he won the race to touch down for his third try of the match.
Rogers converted and the Quins, now with a huge 40-point lead and with 20 minutes to go, must have wondered how many more tries they would score.
Centre Mark Roach soon forced his way over for the seventh try, which was again converted by Rogers.
But with the game now reduced to uncontested scrums, it took away a huge advantage that the Quins had.
Llangwm did manage a try from their outstanding number eight Matthew John, which was ably converted by centre Andrew Brock.
Rogers soon restored the norm with a try himself, which he also converted, before the Wasps grabbed their second try of the match through Brock, which he also converted himself.
But it was the Quins who had the last say when influential captain Barry Parsons touched down wide out to end the scoring as Rogers missed the conversion.
The referee then blew for no side as the Quins headed back across the bridge in good spirits.
